pastedown: "Richard Holmes from his sincere friend T.F. Stooks..., July
1858" ("through his kind friend and minister, the Rev. T.F. Stooks, he
was enabled to apprehend and accept God's pardoning mercy" [p.15]);
also w/the sig. of F.W. Williamson to recto of frontis &
bookseller's ticket of W.H Dalton to fr. pastedown. Binding Very
Good (spine sl. darkened & hinges cracked); contents Very Good
(occas. lt. stains). Fredeman 57.2 ("if Holman-Huntistic
standards were sufficient to entitle their bearer to artistic
distinction, Seddon would have to be the most absolutely pure of all
the minor, nonmembers of the Pre-Raphaelite entourage"--p.208).
