cloth w/blind ruling & gilt title to spine, a.e. red-speckled,
[i-vi], 1-570 pp. w/numerous in-text wood engravings by the Dalziels
after Hughes, F.A. Fraser, etc., & literary contributions by
MacDonald, William Allingham, Jean Ingelow, Matthew Browne (W.B.
Rands), etc., +several unpaginated wood engraved plates. This
vol., the 4th in the series, contains the Nov. 1871 thru Oct. 1872
monthly issues, & also includes the 1st printings of MacDonald's
"The Wind and the Moon," "The Foolish Harebell" & "The Snow Fight,"
& Rands's "Innocents' Island." Inscribed to 1st blank: "Edith
Alice Hebden from dear Grandpapa & Grandmamma, Xmas 1872."
